This Week on the Island 12/30/2012

‘This week on the Island' is written by Doug Bennett and is an update to friends about happenings in Key West last week. Everything is true except for those parts that are lies.

Weather: A beautiful week. In the high 70’s at day and the high 60’s at night. Lots of sun and white clouds.

The book this week was ‘Capital Crimes’ by Stuart Woods.

The island is packed. Lots of people everywhere trying to get out of the cold snowy north.

This used to be painted on the construction fence behind Schooner. It was torn down and replaced by poles and rope.

This is the beach at the end of Simonton Street. We call it bum beach because the homeless camp here. The island in the background is Christmas Tree Island/Wisteria Island.

This is the South Beach on the end of Duval Street at the Atlantic.

This is Dog Beach next to Louis Back Yard (I stumbled next door to the bar – Jimmy Buffett)

This is Higgs Beach near the White Street Pier.

This is Rest Beach on the other side of the White Street Pier.

This is Smathers Beach out on South Roosevelt. It is probably one of the best beaches on the island right after the beach at Ft Zack.

This is Ft Zach Beach. It is a Florida State Park and the best maintained beach on the island.

I know you wish you were here.
